Everyone loves pie, right?. ALDI sells a snack pie under the generic brand name Baker’s Treat. The pies come in Apple or Cherry flavors. This review is for the cherry pie. The pies come in a cardboard box and are sold individually. A little while back they were selling for $ 0.43 each but recently the price has been dropped to $ 0.39 each.
The pie has a glaze over the pie crust like Drake’s pies. In comparison I felt the pie was about the same quality as the Drake’s. The crust was tender with a good balance of glaze. The filling contained real fruit and had a nice cherry flavor. Overall, I wasn’t crazy about the pie but then I prefer Tastykake pies in general however they are well over $1.00 most places these days.
I decided to try the pie again however this time I tried it warm. The Baker’s Treat box has a heating suggestion on the back of the box. I stuck the pie in the microwave for 15 seconds. The pie was much more palatable heated up to me. The glaze and crust were soft and sweet and the filling seemed to have a stronger flavor (watch out though – it was hot…). The pie heated up had a better flavor balance in my opnion.
I gave this pie a rating of $$$. I wasn’t crazy about the pie cold but heated up it was much better. For the price of $ 0.39 each I feel it is an overall decent value. If you prefer non-glazed crusts such as Tastykake or Tabletop then this might not be for you though.
I bought 20 Cherry Pies, and 20 Apple Pies. 13 of the cherry pies didn’t have any filling, 2 of them were apple pie. 7 of the apple pies didn’t have filling either. Pretty pissed off about that. Don’t they have anyone in Quality Control that is awake on the job?!?!

What so high in South Bend, IN? I know we suck price gouging is why it sucks to live here.
Last week we purchased your Apple Pie’s and found mold on all of them but one. Do you or Aldies have any quality control?
Aldi must have changed their supplier for the Baker’s Treat cherry and apple pies. About a year or so ago, I tried them and they were delicious; crispy, flaky crust and everything…
Now, I’ve tried them a couple of times in the past month or so.. Thinking I got a bad batch, I went back and tried them again… Same result.. the crust is soft and has the appearance of being old….very little filling.. Even picked up some on their stocking day here and thought maybe with a fresh shipment, they’ll be good.. Nope… same garbage..
Oh well.. most of Aldi’s items are gems.. the Baker’s Treat pies.. I’ll no longer recommend them and I’ve marked them off my list of Aldi’s great buys..
I went into my local Amsterdam Aldi’s and saw a sign advertising the Apple/Cherry pies for 25 cents. How bad could they be, so I went to where they were to find all the apple ones gone and only a few cherry pies left. I bought the ones they had. I just tried one and let me say, that was the WORST tasting cherry pie I have ever had. The crust was greasy beyond belief and the filling was just as bad tasting. If this is the quality of these pies, I will never try one again. Another Aldi’s failure.
I have become a regular Aldi’s shopper and only recently bought and tried the Bakers Treat apple pie. I live in ct, the pies are.49 cents each. I first ate them cold then noticed the recommendation on the box to heat them in the microwave. I must say they are as good if not better than the Hostess apple pie was. I have not had any problems with wrong pies in box or mold. The nice thing with Aldi’s is they offer the double guarantee so that customers will always. Be satisfied. Keep up the good work!
These pies are great for two reasons. You get a lot of product(size/weight) for the price and they are delicious, hot or cold. They have a perfect balance of dough to fruit and sweetness. Excrptional!!!
Bakers Treat Cherry Pie no filling! I didn’t feel I should take it back since I took a bite. I can’t send a picture since your website doesn’t allow for it. I like the pies. This didn’t happen once but several times! I may be done with your Bakers Treat line!
Do they come in the refrigerated section? I ask as I work for a food bank and we got a load in and I don’t know if they were sold frozen or out on the shelf Thanks
I just bpught a box of Baker’s Treat Cherry Cheesecake Danishes from Aldi’s. A 6 pack. Imagine my surprise when I opened (the unopened, I checked) box to find only 5. What’s going on???
I get the BAKER’S TREAT pies at our local Aldi store and just love’em!
I have had cherry, apple and I think – lemon. Never had a quality issue.
I think they’re yummy and at a great price too.
